HURRICANE IKE - LIVE COVERAGE FROM ABC 13 HOUSTON, TX

Thursday mornings satellite presentation of Hurricane Ike shows that the storm has become more symmetrical.  There is a hint of some dry air invading the center of circulation as seen on the 10am CDT visible satellite and water vapor images.  Once the eyewall gets established further strengthening will occur.  In fact, explosive development of Hurricane Ike is likely over the next couple of days due to the favorable environment for strengthening.

As Hurricane Ike travels across the Gulf of Mexico the satellite presentation will gradually get better.  As Ike increases in organization an eye will become visible on satellite, first on visible and then on the infrared.  Model forecast predict Ike will become at least a category 4 hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico.

My Name is Katrina, the Hurricane!!
So did Faux News ever make a report about the Hurricane saying that it might be caused by dem terrorists!!? Because they have attempted to link just about everything else where a bunch of people die to them...

I don't know myself though, because I don't have a tv.
United States or Divided States?

Listen people. We live in the United States. We are supposed to stand together under on flag, no matter our political views, personal opinions, or religious convictions. We are a country and above all our country and its well being is what matters most. So instead of sitting around and putting down people on an internet blog (how gay is that), shut up and make this country better by what you do...cuz what you say doesn't mean anything.

Speaking of bigoted, why don't you look at your own comments? How dare you chose a time of chaos and death to make self-indulgent, ignorant remarks about people who are suffering, people you don't even know; people are dying right now and you ??? What a pinnacle of human greatness you are. Go to a chat room and talk with people as ignorant as you. God forbid the day your family, all of them, faces something like this while you see people posting such stupidity. Jackass.
good luck to all

What does a Texan do if he's making love to a beautiful woman for the first time and she wispers in his ear" I was born in Canada" pull it out ????

Looks like Ike blew the lid off of the septic tank and Big Tex crawled out. Who needs your
hateful, biggoted, mindless view of the world? I'm sure most Texans, including the fine people
who serve our nation in the military, cringe when ignorant Texans spew such venom as
representative of the good people of your state. Find another way of dealing with your apparantly unsucceful life. The only thing Big about Big Tex is his mouth, certainly not his brain. For
people around the world view this, we do have to endure too many usually economically and
educationally deprived citizens who strike out like Big Tex instead of making something of
themselves and their lives. Crawl back into your hole Big Tex and stew there in your bile.

im sitting in the middle of this storm and these winds are howling like you wouldnt believe, im running my computer on my generator and my dsl is still up as of now. my house is 40 miles inland, a little north of the ship channel and we gonna be getting 90 mphs of so here. this is wild to see mother natures fury first hand.
Dumb fagget liberals

BIG TEX
Now listen here, i dont think i like your tone. Just because us Texans believe in an honest days work and dont believe that we should use Uncle Sam to provide for us like some of the lazy bums in New Orleans, dont mean you can stereotype us as "rednecks" We are a proud group of people who still have values and beliefs you cant begin to imagine. You can take your gay rights and stick em where you enjoy sticking stuff. If it wasnt for us Texans, which make up almost 1 in 4 military members, your ass would probably not exist. Some other country would have invaded your "imaginary liberal" America and you would be some guys bitch, which you would probably enjoy anyway. So just remember, without us "redneck Texans" your ass would not have the freedoms and rights you have today.
PS- if you think you could have done a better job with post 9-11 america, why didnt you become the president, fag.
Idiotic Redneck Texan

Interested Observer
Why is it that some right wing conservative Republican moron (like Kev) has to use a tragedy like the arrival of Hurricane Ike to attack the people of New Orleans? It's so pathetic and unnecessary but typical of your kind!

Plus, if you think Americans will be stupid enough to elect another ignorant, hypocritical, right wing Republican like Palin to be one 72 year old heartbeat away from the presidency, you're even more of an ignorant, backwards Southern redneck than I imagine.
Just to be clear ....

A few idiotic comments do NOT represent the views of most Canadians. Please ignore them and do not write back comments that all Canadians are this or that. MOST Canadians sincerely hope that all Americans stay safe and out of harm's way. Anyway, keep your heads down for the next 24 hours or so. IKE is a nasty storm. Peace!
Thanks

Well, Be nice, it looks like the next veep of the USA will be a woman from Alaska, which is almost Canadian, right?

LOL!

Texans will be fine through this. We aren't the sort that sit on our butts waiting for the government to do something, as they did in New Orleans. Texans DO, not wait..

Wow! This storm looks like a real bear! I live in Dallas, I hope the folks down south took the advice to GET OUT! From what I saw of traffic coming in from I-45 today, it looks like many did, thank goodness!

Why do I see mean messages here between Canadians and Texans? I am a native Texan, native Dallasite. I didn't know we had any problem with Canada! I thought they were our friends.

Oh well, I guess I missed the original instigating message.

You can check the link on the images page for "Hurrican Ike Project Path" and see it will miss New Orleans. So I doubt there will be much said about New Orleans unless Ike's path turns northward once it's fully back into the Gulf of Mexico.

Or you can use this link to see the project path:

I've been checking the radar/satellite images every day since Ike was just barely off the southeastern tip of Cuba. It's just unreal that the central area of that storm has stayed over the island for its full length. I feel really bad for those folks. What a nightmare! Thank God it didn't stay a category 4 or even a 2 or 3. sheesh....

I have studied weather for a long time and I have never seen anything like this develop in less than one day. This storm has the potential and more and likely will be bigger than Katrina. This could turn into the storm of the year, maybe even the century.

Ike intensified over the exact same patch of water that Bertha used to become the season's first major hurricane all the way back in July. Taking bets as to whether Ike gets to Cat. 5, but the smart money says no. Good looking, compact storm. Classic.
