Hurricane Paloma developed in the northwest Caribbean sea on Wednesday. It has rapidly strengthened into a hurricane and has the potential to become a major hurricane, with winds greater than 115 mph, before it makes landfall with Cuba. The current path takes hurricane Paloma toward the northeast out into the central Atlantic Ocean over the next several days. Once in reaches the Atlantic it will begin to weaken and make the transition to an extratropical cyclone.
